FAQ

Here's a well-crafted FAQ answer written in Hu Tile's voice:
How long will my project take?
Honest answer: it depends. Every project is different, and we'd rather give you a real timeline than a number that sounds good but doesn't hold up once we're on the job.
When you get your estimate from us, it comes with a timeline specific to your scope. Here's what goes into that:
Project size and complexity — A powder room and a full kitchen remodel are completely different animals. We build timelines based on the actual square footage, the number of surfaces, and the complexity of the layout or pattern work involved.
Site conditions — Before tile can go down, the substrate has to be right. If there's demo involved, moisture issues to address, or a subfloor that needs work, those steps happen first. We'll call that out in your estimate so nothing catches you off guard.
Material lead times — If you've selected a tile that needs to be ordered, that window factors into the overall schedule. We always recommend having your selections locked in before work begins so we're not sitting on a job waiting for a shipment.
Cure and dry time — Tile work isn't just the setting. Mortar and grout need time to cure properly before a space can be used. Rushing that process affects the quality of the finished product, and that's not something we're willing to cut corners on.
Access and coordination — On larger projects or occupied homes, scheduling around other trades or homeowner needs is real. We work with you to build a timeline that's realistic for your situation.
We'll always give you our closest accurate estimate upfront and communicate along the way if anything changes. No surprises — that's how we work.

Most homeowners don't know — and that's completely normal. It's our job to assess that before we ever mix mortar.
Tile is unforgiving. It needs a surface that's flat, structurally sound, and free of movement. A subfloor that flexes, a wall with moisture behind it, or an old adhesive that wasn't fully removed — any of those things will affect how the tile performs long-term, even if everything looks fine on day one.
Before we start, we evaluate the substrate. If prep work is needed, we'll tell you what and why, and we'll include it in the scope. We're not going to set tile over a surface we don't trust just to get the job done faster. That's not a reputation we're interested in building.
If you're planning a renovation and aren't sure what you're working with, reach out before you get too far into the planning process. A quick conversation can save a lot of rework down the road.
